The Indonesia EdTech market was valued at USD 3.23 billion in 2024 and is projected to expand to USD 8.81 billion by 2033, with an impressive compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 11.79% between 2025 and 2033. This expansion reflects how technology is reshaping the nation’s classrooms, making learning more accessible, inclusive, and personalized.

Government Initiatives Fueling Nationwide Digital Learning

At the heart of Indonesia’s EdTech expansion is strong government backing. The Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education has launched a Digital Learning Program designed to ensure equal access to technology-based education across all regions. Within one year, every school is set to receive interactive digital classrooms equipped with laptops, interactive flat panels, and educational content designed for immersive learning.

In line with this digital transformation, the government aims to connect 300,000 schools to the internet by the end of 2025. This effort marks a major leap toward bridging the digital divide between urban and rural education systems. Beyond connectivity, the initiative includes teacher training in digital and AI literacy, ensuring that educators can effectively use new technologies in the classroom.

These reforms are not only about adopting new tools but also about building a culture of digital competence among teachers and students. The initiative is part of a broader effort to raise the quality of human resources and align Indonesia’s education system with global standards.

Infrastructure and Policy Backing Strengthen EdTech Ecosystem

The government’s commitment to the Indonesia EdTech Growth trajectory is further underscored by its significant investments. A budget allocation of IDR 17 trillion was made through the end of 2023 for ICT product spending in education. This funding supports a range of platforms, including:

  • Platform Merdeka Mengajar, which enhances teacher competence and classroom innovation.
  • Rapor Pendidikan, which provides data-driven insights to improve school performance.
  • ARKAS, a digital budgeting system for school administration.
  • SIPLah, which streamlines procurement processes for schools.

These platforms demonstrate how EdTech integration extends beyond learning to include administration, teacher development, and school management.

Additionally, Pustekkom, the government’s ICT center for education, is leading infrastructure development projects. These include expanding digital learning resources, improving school connectivity, and establishing a regulatory framework that fosters innovation while maintaining educational standards.

Such a robust ecosystem positions Indonesia as one of Southeast Asia’s fastest-growing EdTech markets. Industry analysts predict the sector could reach USD 1.8 billion by 2027, driven by broader internet access, smartphone penetration, and the rise of AI-powered education tools.
